The “Huawei Cloud & Fixed Solutions Personal Data Protection Forum 2026” featured specialized discussions on the legal and practical frameworks of Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 and the role of local cloud infrastructure in achieving data sovereignty and regulatory compliance in the Egyptian market. The discussions highlighted the importance of supporting organizations and businesses in preparing to meet the operational and regulatory requirements of digital transformation.

During the session titled “Strengthening Data Sovereignty: The Advantages of Huawei Cloud’s Local Region,” Eng. Sayed Abdelrhman, Partner Solution Architect at Huawei Cloud, highlighted the role of cloud technology in strengthening data sovereignty and presented the advantages of Huawei Cloud’s Cairo Region, the first public cloud region in North Africa. The local region enables organizations to store and process their data within Egypt, eliminating the risks and costs associated with cross-border data transfers.

Abdelrahman said: “Huawei Cloud is fully committed to meeting data governance requirements and complying with local, regional and international regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Through the expansion of its infrastructure and data centre investments in Egypt, including the launch of a second site and the provision of integrated solutions that keep data within national borders, Huawei Cloud provides an advanced security framework that enables government entities and critical sectors, including financial services, healthcare and telecommunications, to maintain full control over their data while meeting the highest standards of security and regulatory compliance without the need to transfer data outside the country.”

He added: “Huawei Cloud is advancing technological innovation by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) tools and Big Data 2.0 applications within a comprehensive security framework specifically designed to protect customers. This framework is built on end-to-end encryption for data in transit and at rest, secure software development practices through DevSecOps, and a flexible environment that enables organizations to manage their infrastructure and tools with the highest levels of reliability and efficiency while protecting against cybersecurity threats.”

The forum also featured a session titled “A Practical Case Study of Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law: JATDEV on Huawei Cloud,” which presented a practical example of implementing data protection frameworks within a cloud environment. Eng. Amr Farouk, Chairman & CEO of JATDEV, presented the company’s success story and a case study on meeting the requirements and regulations of Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law using Huawei Cloud infrastructure. He explained how flexible local cloud solutions helped accelerate technical compliance processes and secure data assets without compromising operational efficiency or service delivery.

Farouk said: “Modern data protection legislation imposes strict requirements on the collection, transfer and storage of data across borders, presenting large enterprises with significant legal and technical challenges in achieving full compliance. With the widespread adoption of cloud-based communication applications and business solutions that host user data outside the country, there is an increasing need for clear controls that define the responsibilities of data controllers and processors and ensure the protection of citizens’ digital privacy in accordance with the highest local and international regulatory standards.”

He added: “Leading technology companies provide advanced solutions based on end-to-end encryption, with encryption keys controlled exclusively by customers, alongside local cloud platforms and advanced AI tools that comply with national legislation. These solutions, including encrypted collaboration platforms, enable organizations and critical sectors to benefit from technology securely while maintaining full data sovereignty and preventing unauthorized access to or misuse of information.”

The “Huawei Cloud & Fixed Solutions Personal Data Protection Forum 2026” comes within the framework of the strategic partnership between Huawei Cloud and Fixed Solutions, the technology arm of Fixed Investment Group, to provide integrated technology and consulting solutions that combine advanced cloud infrastructure with regulatory and governance frameworks. This collaboration supports public- and private-sector organizations in advancing secure and sustainable digital transformation in accordance with the highest standards of information security and national legislation.
